Low Temperature LiPo battery Lithium Polymer or Ion cell Nominal voltage 3.7V
The LiPo battery models presented here can also be used for special applications at extremely low temperatures of down to -40°C. While the polymer in a standard model can freeze at temperatures below 0°C and then fail, the low temperature models have a modified electrolyte polymer so that operation down to -40°C is guaranteed.
When calculating the capacity, the capacity loss in extreme cold must be taken into account. This can be up to 40%. This means that if, for example, 1000mA is required at -40°C, it is better to choose a 1700mA standard battery. This ensures that at least the required 1000mA can be supplied even at -40°C. The currents should be < 1C.
Please note that the total length of the LiPO battery increases by approx. 2mm with an additional protective circuit
